Stratiform deposits - exploration techniques, data analysis and interpretation, geological modelling, resource calculation

Context of the Course

AGH will organize a short course dedicated to the stratiform deposits, with the main focus on exploration techniques, data analysis and interpretation, geological modelling and resource calculation. In the first part of the course information about geology and exploration models will be introduced. Second part is related to practical work dataset. During the course participants will get familiar with selected geological software (MineScape) to produce simple geological model (including faults) for startiform ore deposit, block modelling and resource estimation. The participants gain information on workflow and good practices necessary for building geological model according to international standards.

The software MineScape is a geological modelling and mine planning solution within Datamine's suite of mining software. From nickel mining in Russia, platinum group metals mining in South Africa, to coal mining in Poland and Indonesia, MineScape provides mining operations worldwide with a suite of integrated solutions designed for both open pit and underground mines for coal and metalliferous deposits.

Learning outcomes
• knowledge about geology of stratiform ore deposits (Kupferschiefer and MVT type)
• knowledge about different methods used for stratiform deposits exploration
• knowledge about geological modelling workflow
• ability to use selected computer software for geological modelling and reserves calculations
